Tour description

These tours are generally held in conjunction with San Francisco Opera's Fall and Summer seasons.  The cost is $20 with discounts given to those who have made donations.  The Fall 2017 tours are currently sold out.

The tour lasts one hour and includes the following areas (assuming they are not in use to prepare for an oprea production):

  • Dressing Rooms
  • Wardrobe
  • Wig Shop
  • Makeup Dept.
  • Prompter's Box

I went on this tour in 2016 and found it a fascinating look behind the scenes of one of the world's top opera companies.  After nearly 30 years of seeing SF Opera production, I was captivated by the many different functions that need to operate seamlessly to bring off this multi-media art form.
