More than 100,000 people have taken advantage of the addition of the Richmond San Rafael path last year. But Caltrans considers this access a temporary, 4-year experiment and may later remove the path to provide an addition lane for cars and trucks. Dave Campbell of Bike East Bay and Warren Wells of the Marin County Bicycle Coalition will join us to talk about advocacy efforts to make Bay Trail access on the bridge permanent.
The Bridge access enables visits by bicycle and on foot to some spectacular locations in Marin and around Richmond. We'll talk about some terrific hikes and rides the bridge allows us to enjoy.
We'll also talk about "Best of the Bay Trail," our plan to list top locations on the Trail we hope you'll be inspired to visit. We'll begin by working together to find the best park bench on the Trail as well as the best nearby establishment from which to purchase food to enjoy there.
The theme of our monthly photography contest will be park benches on or near the Bay Trail. Click here for information on entering.
Bay Trail Confidential! is a monthly Zoom program that spotlights some of the most inviting and spectacular places along its route. We'll talk about the wildlife you can see and history you'll learn about along the Trail. Each month's show will provide specific recommendations and valuable information to help you make the most of this amazing public resource.
The program is hosted by San Francisco City Guides and presented by Rodney Paul and Ethel Konopka. Rodney has been a tour guide in San Francisco since 2015 and loves biking the Trail. Ethel prefers to hike and is newer to the trail but Rodney’s equal in enthusiasm.
Our goal is to inspire you to visit more of the Trail and better appreciate SF Bay, which is the defining feature of our region. The Zoom link will be sent to participants after registering on Eventbright.
