Bay Trail Confidential #8: Hamilton and Las Gallinas

The recently inaugurated SMART train is a great way to visit Hamilton and nearby Las Gallinas Valley. The former was the site of an army airfield until 1974, and remnants of its historic past can be seen and add to its allure. The latter is a Sanitation District that has wonderful trails where birds and other wildlife can be observed. We'll discuss the history that led to both areas opening up to the public.

The theme of our monthly photography contest will be railroads and trains on or near the Bay Trail. Click here for information on entering.

Bay Trail Confidential! is a monthly Zoom program that spotlights some of the most inviting and spectacular places along its route. We'll talk about the wildlife you can see and history you'll learn about along the Trail. Each month's show will provide specific recommendations and valuable information to help you make the most of this amazing public resource.

The program is hosted by Rodney Paul and Ethel Konopka. Rodney has been a tour guide in San Francisco since 2015 and loves biking the Trail. Ethel prefers to hike and is newer to the trail but Rodney’s equal in enthusiasm.

Our goal is to inspire you to visit more of the Trail and better appreciate SF Bay, which is the defining feature of our region. This month we'll present our very first Bay Trail Confidential. But our plan is to follow it with many more, and we hope you'll keep coming back for more.

The Zoom link will be sent to participants after registering on Eventbright.
